SIOP

SIOP for those new to the SIOP Model  (SIOP for Elementary, Secondary, PreK and Kindergarten):

During the four SIOP Teacher Workshops days, secondary, elementary, and early childhood teachers will learn about and practice the eight components of the SIOP Model in order to effectively integrate language and content instruction for their particular grade levels. The workshops will include a variety of activities, such as demonstration and explanation, analysis of video teaching sequences, small group learning tasks, and the development of instructional activities and SIOP lesson plans. Teachers will have the opportunity to work in grade level clusters, content, and/or school teams in order to foster collaboration during and beyond the workshop.

SIOP Trainer of Trainers:

During the four SIOP Training of Trainers workshops, participants will explore research-based lessons on effective professional development and adult learning. The workshops will include a variety of activities, such as demonstration and explanation, analysis of video teaching sequences, and small group task. At the end of each workshop, participants will plan a SIOP workshop or incorporate what they learned into their role-specific professional development activities. During the last day, participants will present their own workshop plans based on their learning.

ExC-ELL

Deep Dive into ExC-ELL is designed for teachers with previous ExC-ELL training from Dr. Calderon and associates who wish to deepen their implementation of the model in their classrooms. These three check-in days with Dr. Calderon are designed to allow participants bring videos, ExC-ELL observation notes and reflections, coaching documents, and student progress to debrief, compare data and plan next steps for instruction and implementation. Previous ExC-ELL training is a prerequisite.
